If Morocco has been sitting on your travel bucket list, you're not alone. Between the vibrant cities, breathtaking Sahara Desert, colorful markets, and incredible food, it's a destination that captures the imagination of travelers around the world.
At the same time, Morocco can feel intimidating, especially if you're thinking about visiting solo for the first time. Different languages, navigating busy medinas, and planning transportation between cities can make it feel like a trip that's better experienced with others.
I recently visited Morocco with a small group, and it exceeded my expectations. If these types of travel experiences excite you, Morocco just might be your next favorite destination.
Bold, Flavorful Food

Tagine, a traditional Moroccan meal
Moroccan cuisine is full of rich spices, slow-cooked dishes, fresh bread, and sweet mint tea. Every meal feels like part of the cultural experience, whether you're enjoying a traditional tagine or sampling pastries from a local bakery.
Getting Lost in Historic Cities

Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou
Morocco's ancient medinas are unlike anywhere else in the world. Around every corner you'll discover colorful doorways, artisan shops, hidden courtyards, and bustling markets that invite you to slow down and explore.
Bucket List Desert Adventures

We stayed overnight in a camp in the Sahara!
Watching the sun set over the Sahara Desert is one of those travel moments you'll remember forever. Whether you're riding camels across the dunes or sleeping under the stars in a desert camp, it's an experience that lives up to the hype.
Incredible Mountain Scenery

The Atlas Mountains are beautiful
Many people don't realize just how diverse Morocco's landscapes are. One day you can be exploring vibrant cities, and the next you'll be winding through the Atlas Mountains on your way to the desert.
Colorful Markets & Handmade Treasures

I love purchasing local art when traveling-it's a once in a lifetime purchase
The souks are filled with handcrafted rugs, leather goods, ceramics, lanterns, spices, and artwork created by local artisans. Even if you don't plan to shop, wandering through the markets is an unforgettable experience.
Beautiful Riads

Our riad was beautiful!
One of my favorite parts of visiting Morocco was staying in traditional riads. These peaceful guesthouses are often hidden behind simple doors, opening into stunning courtyards that feel like a private oasis after a busy day exploring.
Meaningful Cultural Experiences

The people I met in Morocco were some of the warmest and open hearted people I've encountered on my travels.
Beyond the beautiful scenery, what makes Morocco special is the opportunity to experience a culture that may be very different from your own. Some of my favorite memories came from conversations with locals, learning about traditions, and simply slowing down enough to appreciate everyday life.
Why I Loved Visiting Morocco With a Group
While Morocco is absolutely possible to visit independently, I personally loved experiencing it with a small group.
Instead of worrying about transportation, navigating unfamiliar cities, or coordinating logistics, I was able to focus on what mattered most-immersing myself in the experience. Having a knowledgeable local guide also gave us insights into the country's history and culture that I would have missed on my own.
If you've always wanted to visit Morocco but have hesitated because it feels like a big trip to plan, traveling with a small group can be the perfect balance. You still have time to explore independently, while enjoying the comfort of having transportation, accommodations, and the major details taken care of.
